One group hopes to combat rising rates of diabetes in Newfoundland and Labrador with a sizable donation.
The Northpine Foundation announced last week that they have donated $250,000 to Amp Health in an effort to combat diabetes and prediabetes in rural areas of the province.
The province currently sees 35 per cent of its residents battling diabetes and prediabetes, with more than 25 per cent of residents in rural NL lacking access to a family doctor.
The funds received over the next two years will go towards Amp Health’s innovative product Melli, an SMS-based diabetes prevention program.
Mandy Woodland, CEO at Amp Health, shares that the support from Northpine will allow the organization to meet individuals where thy are in their health journey.
