Labrador Marine has announced the guaranteed delivery date for freight ahead of the winter freeze up.
All freight bound for the north coast must be delivered to the dock at Goose Bay by 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9 to be assured of delivery by the end of the season.
LMI General Manager Captain Austin Daley says they’re already seeing increased shipments of groceries and other staples that must be delivered before the end of the shipping season.
Freight shipments to the end of August were up substantially over the same period last year despite interruptions caused by unusually heavy ice conditions in June and July.
That’s due in large part to what Labrador Marine calls a busy construction season on the coast. Building materials and equipment shipments were up considerably over 2022.
Passenger and private vehicle traffic was down slightly over the same period.
