The province says it has helped a number of people camping out across from Confederation Building with housing and support services.
Government says officials from NL Housing, the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development, and the Health Services’ Harm Reduction Team have met with those in the tent city to understand their needs, and link them with available housing services.
Government says all people in the group have been offered staffed shelter placements and they have helped several people in completing housing and income support applications.
Government is working to secure more permanent housing. Those looking for help with housing are asked to call the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Regional Office and connect with community groups like End Homelessness St. John’s.
