The CEO of Killick Health Services is praising the family care team model for helping to reduce the administrative burden on physicians.
The provincial government has announced that it is establishing a new clinic in Grand Falls-Windsor, located at the Killick Clinic inside the Lynken Building.
The clinic will include two physicians, a nurse practitioner, a physiotherapist, an occupation therapist, a psychologist, and other health professionals.
When asked about why Killick decided to go with the government model instead of setting up their own clinic, Dr. Kris Luscombe explains that this model lets them build on existing infrastructure and expertise.
They often hear physicians say that they want to “show up with their stethoscope.” He believes this model takes away some of the headaches associated with operating a family practice as they have people already in place who know how to run this model.
