The Consumer Advocate is going to recommend that the water reservoirs in the province be returned to those who paid for them – the taxpayer.
Nalcor, the parent company of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, now owns all reservoirs in the province, something which Dennis Browne sees as a mis-step by government.
Nalcor is not regulated by the Public Utilities Board, but Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro is. At yesterday’s rate mitigation hearing, Browne said he will recommend that the reservoirs be returned to the ratepayer.
Browne says it’s totally unacceptable, and he will be requesting that something be done about it.
