The CEO of Avalon Employment says there are many benefits to hiring people with disabilities.

This is Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Sean Wiltshire says there are advantages for the community when people with disabilities are hired, and businesses are seeing a difference made to their bottom line.

As well, he notes that the people who are being brought into the workforce are benefitting too.

Wiltshire says they often hear from parents who are praising how their loved one has gained independence and is growing because they are part of their program.

“This changes people’s lives,” he says, noting that it means that caregivers don’t need to worry about whether their loved ones are participating or being included.
