The province’s Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology says it is monitoring the court process related to Tacora’s restructuring.
There are serious concerns for businesses in the Labrador West area who are creditors of the mining company which operates the Scully Mine near Wabush.
Area MHA Jordan Browne asked government what can be done to support businesses who have been left in limbo since the restructuring process began.
Browne says local companies are owed millions of dollars and he wants to make sure small businesses are supported and “not left holding the bag.” Minister Parsons says thankfully, no jobs have been lost at Tacora and work continues. He says the best government can do right now is monitor the CCAA process, and do what they can to work with the company, suppliers and affected workers.
