A body safety program will be available in all K-9 classrooms in the province by September 2025.
Government announced today that the Kids in the Know body safety program will be implemented in all classrooms for children and young teens throughout the province.
The Canadian Centre for Child Protections’ national safety education program features activities designed for children to build skills that increase personal safety and reduce the risk of victimization online and offline.
It is already in 38 schools in kindergarten to grade 3, with 20 schools being added this winter, ahead of the full implementation for the 2025-26 school year.
Bev Moore Davis of Miles for Smiles Foundation says the age appropriate program will focus on the overall wellness of children.
She says for younger children they will be taught the correct terminology and safe people they can reach out to. For older children and teens, much of the program will focus on safely navigating the online world.
