The premier has ruled out a provincial election any time soon—at least not before Christmas.
The rumours have been swirling for a couple of weeks now.
But after some initial coyness, Furey finally put the rumours to rest yesterday, saying they were largely a product of the recent PC leadership convention.
“No chance of an election before Christmas,” he said. “I mean, I’m very focused on… we’ve made a lot of progress but there’s still a lot of work to do. I think it’s very normal after a leadership campaign, of any political stripe, for there to be rumours and speculations about elections…”
