NL Health Services is providing an update on recruitment efforts and the direction of the health care system to municipal officials.
The Health Professional Recruitment and Retention Office spoke at MNL’s annual conference about the “Extraordinary every day” campaign earlier today.
Dr. Megan Hayes, Assistant Deputy Minister of Health Professional Recruitment and Retention, told the conference they have had success over the past year.
She says they have 25 new physicians and are steadily recruiting them from both the MUN Medical School and abroad. Since April, 239 new nurses have been hired.
As for family care teams, 35 are planned for across the province. Nineteen have officially been announced.
