A rally took place at Confederation Building this morning on the concerns of residents of the Port au Port Peninsula about World Energy GH2’s proposed wind and hydrogen development and the process surrounding the project.
Some residents say their voice is not being heard and their questions are not being answered.
Those in attendance held placards reading “our green is not your green” and “protect our wildlife.”
A petition has been launched calling for greater measures to ensure that environmental impacts are being addressed, not just during the development and operation process but at the end of the project as well.
Those raising concerns about the project also want a cumulative effects study done, to account not just for the impacts of the proposed wind and hydrogen development, but other industrial developments in the same geographic region.
