Housing pressures and the availability of a range of housing options are a concern right across the province – not just the capital city.
That’s according to Premier Andrew Furey who says the challenges are different across the province, but no less difficult than those facing St. John’s.
He uses Labrador West as an example.
“The housing pressures there are immense, but they’re very different, the forces that cause that are very different than those in St. John’s.”
Premier Furey says government needs to make sure that any provincial solutions found are nuanced for rural and remote communities.
Furey says government is working on solutions, although he acknowledges, there are no quick fixes.
