The St. John’s Regional Fire Department is offering a few safety tips as youngsters hit the street for Halloween this evening.
When it comes to a costume, avoid long, trailing fabric to avoid tripping, if wearing a mask, make sure the eye holes are large enough to see out.
Carry a flashlight, glow stick or reflective goody bag, or add reflective tape to costumes. Stay on the sidewalk or shoulder of the road, and cross at street corners or at cross walks.
Use a battery-operated candle or glow stick in pumpkins, and keep all decorations away from open flame.
