There will be a flag-raising at Confederation Building today to mark the beginning of the 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
The launch of the Purple Ribbon Campaign will include Debbie Hibbs, whose daughter Julianne Hibbs and boyfriend Vince Dillon were shot to death in C.B.S. in October of 2013 by Hibbs’ ex-boyfriend.
Lisa Lake, the mother of Cortney Lake, who disappeared in June of 2017, will also be in attendance. Cortney Lake was last seen getting into a pickup matching the one owned by her ex-partner, and is presumed to have been murdered. Lake’s ex, who was identified by police as the only suspect in her disappearance, took his own life.
The minister responsible for women and gender equality, Pam Parsons, invites the public to today’s event.
Advocate Gemma Hickey will also be on hand for the 10:30 event.
