In the next few months anyone with an unlicensed accommodation will have to register with the provincial government or run the risk of not being able to advertise on online platforms like Vrbo or Airbnb.
The deadline to register is March 31.
It’s part of a number of measures being taken by both the provincial and federal governments to curb the proliferation of unlicensed accommodations.
In November the federal government announced that short-term rentals will need to register in order to benefit from tax breaks.
