The numbers are in from last weekend’s police blitz on our highways, and a few of them jump off the page.
RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador handed out 478 tickets for speeding/ and aggressive driving over the three-day Thanksgiving Weekend. Police seized and impounded 17 vehicles, issued two roadside suspensions for drugs, performed 15 roadside screening tests and conducted three standardized field sobriety tests.
In addition, twelve people were cited for seat belt violations, four drivers were impaired by alcohol, and 13 were nabbed for insurance violations.
RCMP checked about 2600 vehicles and issued a total of 642 charges on motorists.
