Donations continue to pour in for a young boy in Glovertown who lost both his parents over Christmas.
Jason Keats passed away on December 22 after a battle with cancer. His wife Robyn passed suddenly just days later, leaving behind their son Simon.
A benefit concert was held by the Glovertown Pentecostal Church last night to raise money towards funeral expenses and to establish an education fund for Simon.
Pastor Lenora Rogers says everyone has come together to support Simon and to mourn the loss of the couple.
Rogers, who only moved to Glovertown three years ago, became close friends with Robyn following the passing of her sister.
She says her mother was diagnosed with cancer at the same time as Jason, and despite everything the family was going through, Robyn always made sure to check in with her and others and faced everything with a smile on her face.
Rogers has been speaking with Simon every night to make sure he has all the supports he needs during such a difficult time.
She says donations in support of the family have been coming in from across Canada.
She says a number of local churches have supported the fundraiser, with donations pouring in from community members and beyond. The hope is that enough money will be raised not only to cover funeral expenses, but to help with the immediate care of Simon and his education fund.
Donation information can be found on the church’s Facebook page, Full Gospel Tabernacle. Donations are also being accepted via email at can be made online or via email at glovertownpentecostal@gmail.com.
