The mayor of Victoria is making a public plea for suggestions to find a way to clear the water intake of ice and slush that has effectively cut water service to the town.
Mayor Barry Dooley says the issue developed over late Saturday night and early Sunday morning when temperatures suddenly took a dip and strong winds pushed ice and snow up against the intake.
Dooley offered his thanks to the Victoria Fire Department which opened the fire hall yesterday to allow people to get water and even provided deliveries to those who couldn’t get out.
Dooley offered his apologies for the disruption and made a plea on VOCM Open Line for suggestions or expertise in clearing the blockage.
He says it’s a problem that recurs from time-to-time and he’s wondering if other municipalities or companies have had experience solving that type of problem. “We’re at our wit’s end with it.”
