A man accused of running another car off the road and into the ocean in Pouch Cove two months ago was back in provincial court this morning.
The bizarre crash played out shortly after 4:00 a.m. on November 11.
Police say there was “an interaction” between two drivers and their vehicles, with one of them—and their four passengers—going off the road and landing in the ocean, near the slipway.

Miraculously, all five were able to escape from the car and make it safely to shore, where they were treated by paramedics.
The next day, 21-year-old Raymond O’Keefe was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, failure to remain at the scene of a crash, five counts of aggravated assault, and five counts of assault with a weapon—namely his vehicle.

O’Keefe, who remains free on conditions, made his second appearance in provincial court this morning, with his parents by his side.
Crown prosecutor Scott Hurley told the court that the disclosure evidence is ready for pickup by defence lawyer Jeff Brace, but there may be more still to come.
The case will be called again on February 28.
