MUN President Dr. Neil Bose has declined the Faculty Association’s emergency request for a meeting following a cyberattack at the Corner Brook Campus on December 29.
All staff at the campus have been ordered to hand in university-issued devices such as laptops and computers, and MUNFA is concerned that their members don’t have the materials needed to do their work.
President Josh Lepawsky calls it “unfortunate” that their request has been turned down.

He says their members have many questions as it relates to their work, noting that much of their work is inaccessible due to IT systems being down.
As well, Lepawsky says they have questions as it relates to things like deadlines for tenure and promotion. He says concerns go beyond teaching and research.
Dr. Ian Sutherland, the Vice President of Grenfell Campus says senior management are meeting with faculty members daily about the difficulties they are facing.
He says for some, there has been little to no impact, others are being moderately affected, and some are severely impeded. He says they are working one-on-one with each faculty member.
