The former Mayor of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove is looking for answers about plans to remediate an oil spill at St. Francis of Assissi.
John Kennedy says an oil spill was discovered a few years ago when school board officials were replacing the oil tank outside the school.
For a variety of reasons the oil could not be removed at the time, and wells were drilled to determine the extent of the spill, but Kennedy says no further update has been provided since then.
He says the parents and nearby residents who have artesian wells have not received any further communication. He calls that inexcusable.
He says plastic snow fence has been placed around the hole to prevent youngsters from falling in. Kennedy wants a time line from the provincial government on remediation of the site.
