The Kenmount Terrace Community Centre and Park is officially open and with that, next up on the list is the H.G.R Mews Centre replacement.
The Kenmount Terrace Community Centre had its grand opening on Friday, completing another of the City’s community centres along with the Paul Reynolds Community Centre and the Southlands Community Centre.
Mayor Danny Breen says the planning stages of the Mews Centre replacement are underway and with that comes the accessible Canadian Tire Playground.
He says It’s a major project. Mayor Breen says the rebuild is expected to total around $24-million or $25-million and will include a pool.
He says a lot of work goes into deciding the amenities that will be within the building, and the services it will offer.
St. John’s city council approved Mundy Pond Park as the location for the new facility in August.
Councillor Jamie Korab says they expect to have shovels in the ground to begin the project next construction season.
