Governments across the country and around the world are acting now to protect the privacy of citizens in an increasingly digital world.
Provincial Privacy Commissioner Michael Harvey says many believe that the notion of personal privacy is dead, but he doesn’t believe that to be true.
Harvey says he’s pleased to see the provincial government taking action.
“The horses have not left the barn,” says Harvey. He was happy to hear that the province is looking at AI legislation and he’s hopeful that the privacy protections in the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and the Personal Health Information Act will be strengthened. Reports on proposed changes to both pieces of legislation are currently on ministers’ desks.
