A man is in custody after police intercepted a person walking along a roadway in Conception Bay South with a gun in hand.
The RNC were on the scene just after midnight, arresting the 62-year-old man and securing the firearm.
The suspect was taken to the lockup on charges of pointing a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The Criminal Investigation Division has been called in to investigate, More charges are anticipated.
