The Mayor of Stephenville is firing back against allegations of bullying and harassment made by a former town councillor.
Lenny Tiller is one of three councillors who recently stepped down, having resigned his seat about one month ago.
He describes the current situation with he town as “complete anarchy,” and alleges that staff are being bullied and intimidated.
Tiller wants to see Occupational Health and Safety step in and conduct a review.
Mayor Tom Rose says Tiller wasn’t 100 per cent accurate with his comments, and accuses him of embellishing some details.
Rose says morale is “really good” at the town hall currently, noting that the last little while has been a struggle for their employees due to low staffing levels, but they are in the process of hiring some new people.
He denies the accusations of bullying and intimidation.
“In no way, shape, or form have I been bullying,” says Rose. He states that staff and council recently received code of conduct training, and anyone who feels that they have been bullied or harassed can file a complaint—which Tiller did not do.
