While the country voted to form our government for the next four years last night, the next generation of voters were exercising their democratic muscles as well.
While voters across the nation voted in a Liberal minority government, students across the country did the same in Student Vote Canada 2019, a mock election where students cast ballots in their school’s riding.
The mock voters elected a Liberal minority with 110 seats.
The opposition looks a lot different however, as they elected the NDP as the official opposition with 99 seats. The Conservatives took a close third with 94 seats, the Green Party won 28 seats and the Bloc Quebecois won 9 seats.
Over 1.1-million students cast a ballot in 7,855 schools across 338 federal ridings.
