Nine months ago she was battling breast cancer, and today she feels like she’s been re-born.
NDP candidate for St. John’s South – Mount Pearl, Anne Marie Anonsen lost to Liberal incumbent Seamus O’Regan last night, but she still feels like a winner.
Anonsen and the NDP made a good push in the district, bringing the vote closer than was originally expected with 27 per cent.
She says she loved the campaign they ran, and the people who helped her with it. She feels they did a good job, and came a strong second, and it inspires her to keep on.
While going through chemotherapy and radiation therapy, Anonsen was very sick, and thought she would never come back. She says just the other day she read in her journal that on January 19, almost nine-months to the day, she was so sick she couldn’t even take a treatment.
Now, she can walk, run, laugh and breathe, something she couldn’t do before. She goes swimming, walks her dog and has a jump in her step that she hasn’t felt in a long time. Anonsen says she feels healthy.
Despite the loss, don’t expect to see Anne Marie Anonsen go anywhere, anytime soon.
