The provincial and federal governments are looking into the possibility of electrifying provincially owned school bus fleets.
All of the Atlantic provinces, and the federal government, have pooled together $495,000 for a feasibility study for the initiative.
The study will develop a “roadmap” to enhance the provinces’ knowledge of electric transportation and what would be needed for the switch.
The study will also cover things such as infrastructure requirements, timelines, emissions reduction, long-term cost savings, and deployment preparations.
In this province, they are looking at electrifying up to 326 buses.
