Nearly ten thousand people in this province are living with dementia and that number is expected to increase.
The Provincial Government is inviting people in Newfoundland and Labrador to help inform the development of a Dementia Care Action Plan.
Health Minister Dr John Haggie says by 2035 the number of people living with dementia in the province will increase to over 14,000 and the toll it takes is not just on people living with the disease, but on their families and caregivers.
Haggie says they’re looking at early diagnosis and prevention but also reduction in stigma, which adds another layer of stress on those dealing with the disease.
There will be four in person sessions across the province as well as several ways the get involved and add your thoughts to the program.
