It’s going to cost more to buy a domestic stamp.
The Canada Post rate increase comes as they reported a loss before tax of $748 million for 2023.
The price of a single stamp goes up by eight cents to $1.15, while stamps purchased in a booklet, coil or pane—which the company says represents most stamp sales—increases by seven cents to 99 cents per stamp.
Canada Post says domestic letter mail rates increased twice over the last decade—five cents in 2019 and two cents in 2020—and the last major change in price was made in 2014.
The company says rate changes also affect other products, including U.S., international letter-post and domestic Registered Mail™ items. Commercial price changes also come into effect yesterday.
