A Quebec-based businessman says he has sorted through what he calls some “financial obstacles” and hopes to have Mallard Cottage up and running by the end of the month.
Blair McIntosh has been involved with the restaurant for years after first paying a visit, and falling in love with the business and the area in 2015.
He purchased the restaurant from Todd Perrin after being a minority shareholder for years. The BDC took the owner to court claiming that it was owed more than $500,000. McIntosh tells VOCM News those “financial obstacles” have now been addressed.
He says he met with the Business Development Bank and came to a settlement on what he calls “the obstacle that existed at that time. I’m very happy to say that that’s all been put to bed and it’s a bright, clear future from here on in.”
In the meantime, McIntosh has been plugging away at renovation work to get the restaurant back up and running by the end of the month.
He says a lot of work was done over the winter, with tweaks to the kitchen and creating more space by relocating the bathrooms to a space that wasn’t being used. He says the structural and historic integrity of the building has been maintained.
