Information sessions are taking place across the province to help spread the word on a new program to help connect students attending the College of the North Atlantic with individuals or families with a room to spare.
An MOU between SpacesShared and the province’s post-secondary institutions including CNA, Memorial University, Keyin College and Academy Canada, was signed in January.
An information session was held at the College of the North Atlantic in Carbonear yesterday to help introduce the concept and answer any questions people might have about the program.
Fraser Piccott, one of seven special advisors from across the country, says it offers students an affordable and safe place to stay, while offering seniors and others a little added income and even some help around the house.
He says for those who wish to age in place, there is an option for the student renting to get a reduction in what they pay by arranging to do a few added tasks like snow clearing or lawn mowing.
All the matches are made on line with full security checks on both sides of the equation.
