Bent says through their proactive measures, the Constabulary has demonstrated its commitment to the safety of residents in CBS. He hopes it will serve as an important reminder to drivers to keep speeds down.
Meanwhile, a video recently shared with the VOCM Newsroom shows a string of frightening driving infractions in Kenmount Terrace involving vehicles that have failed to stop for a school bus as children were being dropped off.
Compounding matters according to residents are the speeds at which people are driving.
Amanda Power says cars just blow by the school bus to the point where parents took matters into their own hands and stood in front of the bus because of safety concerns.
She says a child eventually will be struck by a vehicle so she and some neighbours decided to record the activities to, if nothing else, make it more difficult for anyone who decides to contest a ticket.
Things came to a head on the weekend when a driver ran over a duck which was trying to cross the road. A family of ducks moves freely about in Kenmount Terrace, endearing themselves to residents including the children. A handful of kids was near one duck which had been attempting to cross the road when a car ran over it much to the horror of the children.
Power heard the kids screaming so she went into the garage to get a shovel and remove it. Even then. drivers were speeding past, blowing their horn and yelling at her as she tried to remove the dead animal so that the children would not have to endure the sight any longer.
