Two young people were injured in separate off-road vehicle collisions in the Trinity Conception area over the last week.
RCMP say a 12-year-old was hospitalized with injuries suffered when a dirt bike collided with an ATV, while a 14-year-old was injured when they lost control of the ATV they were driving.
RCMP are reminding parents that young people under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times and must only operate an off-road vehicle that is suitable for their age and weight.
Any local by-laws allowing off-road vehicles to drive on roads to access trails does not apply to young people under the age of 16, as they are too young to carry a valid driver’s licence.
Parents or guardians of unsupervised young people can be charged under the Off-Road Vehicles Act and run the risk of having their off-road vehicle seized and impounded.]
