At least 30 students have already signed up for Memorial University’s new Climate Change and Sustainable Employment Relations course.
Associate professor of international business and labour relations, Dr. John Peters, says the course represents a step forward in recognizing the responsibility to develop the professional education needed to keep global warming to 1.5 Celsius.
Environment Minister Bernard Davis, who was on hand for the official launch yesterday, says addressing the transition to net-zero and a greener economy through professional opportunities is important.
“As we pursue our net-zero commitments, we are ensuring that our businesses and our business environment adapt accordingly, and remain competitive, continuing to attract investment.” He referenced green hydrogen and green mining as two areas of interest in particular for the provincial government.
