The House of Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee is actively following up on what it says is a worrisome lack of action on recommendations made by the Auditor General dating back as far as 2016.
The AG last week outlined 69 outstanding recommendations across all government departments and agencies from between 2016 and 2020.
The Public Accounts Committee says most concerning is the fact that 83 per cent of those outstanding issues are from reports issued more than five years ago. That’s in addition to low implementation rates for recommendations from 2016 and 2017.
The Public Accounts Committe says it is initiating follow-up activities in the coming months and will work in partnership with the AG to ensure plans are in place to take “timely action” on correcting identified deficiencies.
