Just days after Newfoundland Power and NL Hydro issued a warning to the public, RCMP are reporting a string of recent incidents involving the theft of copper wire from locations in and around the Whitbourne area.
The New Harbour substation was struck on May 6 and again on the 31, while the Chapel Arm substation was hit on May 8 and again on the 28.
On May 13, the power poles on Holiday Hill and the Whitbourne substation were both targeted.
A number of lines were severed during the incidents including grounding wires, a practice that is extremely dangerous.
Police believe the incidents are connected. The investigation continues.
