Efforts are underway to arrest a driver responsible for ramming a police cruiser in an incident in Harbour Grace early this morning.

RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle on Bannerman Street around 1:30 this morning. Instead of pulling over, the vehicle rammed a marked police car.

Police did not pursue the fleeing vehicle in the interest of public safety.

RCMP say the driver has been identified and efforts are now underway to make an arrest.

There were no injuries.
