It will be at least midnight tonight before that water main break in the east end of St. John’s is repaired.
A river of water gushed through the Regent Street area off Carrick Drive, flooding properties and infiltrating basements.
The city says the 20-inch pipe broke in the area of Carrick Drive, Regent Street and the Outer Ring Road.
Residents say the water started flowing around 7:00 this morning.
The city says crews are working on repairs which should be completed by midnight tonight.
Flooding has since receded, and remediation crews are on scene to assess damage to property and help homeowners affect repairs. The city encourages residents impacted by flooding to contact their insurance.
