They aren’t for everybody, but the structures known as “tiny homes” seem to be a viable housing solution for some.
A proposal has come before Bay Roberts town council that looks like it’s from a developer who wishes to build tiny homes. However, the town’s building regulations aren’t ready to approve those sort of developments.
It’s not an issue unique to Bay Roberts as other municipalities struggle to find ways to reduce the housing crunch.
Mayor Walter Yetman says it’s becoming harder and harder to own your own home with high interest rates and cost of living, so he thinks tiny homes make sense from an affordability perspective and as a means to address supply issues.
