Local sculptor Morgan MacDonald has been commissioned to create the first piece of bronze work to be added to the National War Memorial in the last 100 years.
MacDonald has created a bouquet of forget-me-nots that will adorn the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
MacDonald—who like many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians has deep personal connections to the soldiers who fought in WWI—calls it a “huge honour.”
The flowers are at a larger scale to make them more robust and sturdy and able to withstand the outdoor environment “for many years to come.”
