The provincial government says their fifth waterbomber will be repaired and brought back into service, it is now a question of where the work will be done.
The waterbomber has been on the shelf since it was damaged in 2018.
Transportation and Infrastructure Minister John Abbott says the province has two options: Shipping the damaged aircraft off to be repaired—which would be costly, or having it repaired in the province.
He says they are actively looking at both options, and a decision will be made on that front in about a month. However, the repairs themselves will take much longer.
Abbott estimates that the work will take about a year to complete.
