A 24-year-old man is facing a long list of charges following a dramatic series of events in the west end of the capital city yesterday.
An armed robbery was reported at a west end convenience story yesterday morning. The suspect presented a weapon to the clerk and fled the scene in a dark coloured SUV that turned out to be stolen.
Through the course of their investigation officers were able to identify a 24-year-old suspect, but the vehicle was not located.
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a crash involving a dark SUV, the same vehicle was identified by witnesses as having been involved in a previous hit and run.
The driver fled the scene, sparking a police foot chase through Bowring Park with the help of the K-9 unit.
The suspect was located at a home a short time later. The incident resulted in some slow downs on Pitts Memorial during the evening commute.
The accused is facing charges of armed robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, theft under $5,000, and breaches of court orders.
He was held for a court appearance.
