Politicians will be back at the Legislature Monday for the first time since June.
The first order of business when the House opens will be the election of a Speaker as that position became vacant when Perry Trimper was promoted to Cabinet.
He resigned soon after following an incident in which his conversation with another person was inadvertently left on the answering machine of Gregory Riche of the Innu Nation. Trimper is said to be campaigning for his old job.
Harbour Grace-Port de Grave MHA Pam Parsons, who lost her quest to become Speaker when the House voted for Trimper, hasn’t made up her mind whether to run again. Parsons told VOCM News that she is considering another run.
Nomination deadline is 4:30 Friday.
