NL Health Services says all 16 family doctor positions in Happy Valley-Goose Bay have been successfully filled.

Ten family doctors are currently practicing in the community with six more confirmed to begin practice over the course of the summer.

Senior medical director with NL Health Services, Dr. Greg Manning, calls it very good news for the people of the region.

Other sites in the Labrador-Grenfell zone have seen success with recent recruitment efforts, with five full-time family physicians working at the Labrador West Health Center and another doctor coming to fill one of two remaining vacancies later this month.

Meanwhile, three vacancies remain at the hospital in St. Anthony with eight full-time family physicians working at that site.
