An athlete from this province is looking forward to suiting up in an international match set for the capital city this weekend.
St. John’s native Owen Sheppard will be playing for the Halifax Wanderers in the first game of an Atlantic Canadian tour against teams from across the pond.
Sunday’s game against Ipswich Town at King George V will be the first time Sheppard has had the chance to play in front of a home crowd since taking his career to the mainland.
Sheppard is excited to play in front of his family and everyone else who supported him early in his career.
Unlike other soccer tournaments, Sheppard says the summer series is mainly focused on bringing professional matches to areas that don’t often get a chance to experience it.
Tickets for Sunday’s game between Halifax and Ipswich can be purchased online.
