Vehicle theft is on the rise across Atlantic Canada—increasing by 34 per cent between 2021 and 2023.
That’s according to Aviva Canada which is trying to shed greater light on the problem and help protect insurers and consumers.
Vice President, Broker Distribution with Aviva Canada, Tena Poirier says vehicle theft is at an all-time high across Canada, and is costing “a lot of money.”
That’s why the insurance company is offering a free tracking devices to customers in the Atlantic region with high-theft vehicles in high-risk areas.
She says some 7,000 customers in those categories will be contacted, with details on what they need to do. Customers in this province can expect to see letters arrive any time after August 1.
