Organizers of St. John’s Pride celebrations are hailing this year’s events as a big success.
Yesterday was the big finale for pride 2024, with the annual pride parade marching through the streets of downtown, ending with an afternoon of festivities at Bannerman Park.
Co-chair Eddy St. Coeur estimates that about 3,000 people marched in the parade.
He says he was at the front of the parade and took a picture from the Sheraton Hotel and there was a “continuous sea of people that went back as far as we could see it.” St. Coeur call that, combined with festivities in the park afterward, a great way to end a festival that others have told them was the one that stood out the most over the last 17 years.
St. Coeur says they hope they can do it all over again in 2025.
He says those discussions are already happening. He notes there have been artists that have already approached them about grants for different showcases that could happen next year, and they want to keep to community engagement going.
