Just days after lifting the fire ban across the island, a high fire hazard rating means that a fire ban is back in place for the St. John’s, Mount Pearl, CBS and Paradise regions.
Weather conditions in the area have been dry and windy for an extended period increasing the fire risk.
The fire ban will remain in place for a minimum of seven days with a further update on Wednesday, July 31.
The ban includes outdoor wood-burning appliances, open fires and charcoal barbecues.
Firepits and barbecues that use propane are fine to use.
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department is continuing to monitor the situation closely.
The fire hazard is high for the Avalon and Bonavista Peninsulas, the northeast coast and portions of central Newfoundland as well as the Port aux Basques region.
