Newfoundland and Labrador experienced record-breaking temperatures yesterday.
It was hot right across the province with sweltering temperatures and humidity levels.
A stiff southwesterly breeze in some areas acted like a fan, especially last night as it picked up to 60 to 70 km/h.
Meteorologist Rob Carroll says twelve records were set across NL, including one which was smashed in Gander. It was 32 degrees yesterday, the hottest July 29 on record. The old record of 29.3 degrees was set in 2007.
Badger, Gander, LaScie, Terra Nova, Twillingate, St. John’s and Winterland set records on the island yesterday with five marks established in Labrador.
Carroll says today will be another hot one.
It will be another scorcher in many areas of heat warnings, splash pads and swimming holes. Heat warnings are up for most of the island including metro but excluding the southern strip and the tip of the Northern Peninsula.
Labrador is out of the heat warning zone for the most part, a single heat warning is out for Churchill Falls and vicinity.
